Adam Orth’s Adr1ft: 505 Games Picks Up Space Sim
Adam Orth, the former creative director at Microsoft who gained notoriety for his blunder on social media by telling his friend to “#dealwithit” concerning Xbox One’s then “always online” policy, now sees his upcoming survival-in-space simulation game, Adr1ft, picked up by Brothers and Payday 2 publisher 505 Games.

Adr1ft chronicles the adventures of an astronaut who awakens as the sole survivor of a catastrophe on a space station. Equipped with a damaged EVA suit and no memory, this cosmic voyager is compelled to scrounge for resources in the hope of mending an escape shuttle to return to Earth.
“Adr1ft is an emotional odyssey through action, consequence, and redemption,” the publisher elucidated in its proclamation. “Ultimately, the player will be left to ruminate on the parallels between the choices they make within the game and those they make in real life.”
It undoubtedly bears a resemblance to Orth’s social media fiasco last year: an incident that brought him considerable distress – and cost him his job – yet one from which he claims to have emerged “stronger” than before.
“I’m extremely elated to be collaborating with 505 Games for Adr1ft,” Orth stated. “Right from the outset, Ian Howe [505 president] and his team have passionately grasped the game that Omar [Aziz] and I are endeavoring to create. They have bestowed upon us the liberty to explore and fashion something extraordinary with Adr1ft, both in a traditional manner and with VR technology.”
That’s correct, the game will incorporate VR, although it hasn’t been disclosed whether this implies Oculus, Morpheus, or something entirely different, and no platforms for Adr1ft have been announced.
