Apex Legends: Steam Arrival & More News
Respawn Entertainment’s free-to-play battle royale shooter Apex Legends is finally set to make its grand entrance on Steam on November 4th. This highly anticipated move has been announced by the developer, generating excitement among gamers. However, Switch owners who have been impatiently awaiting the game’s arrival will have to exercise a bit more patience, as the developer has now confirmed a delay on Nintendo’s platform.
In a fresh post on its website, Respawn shared the news of Apex Legends’ November 4th launch on Steam, which conveniently coincides with the arrival of Season 7. The developer also took the opportunity to remind players that all account progression and unlocks will seamlessly carry over between Steam and Origin, ensuring that gamers can switch between the preferred storefronts without any hassle.
Unfortunately, the news is not as cheerful for Switch players. They were initially informed to expect Apex Legends on Nintendo’s platform this autumn. Respawn explains that although they are “still working diligently” on the port, “this year has presented unforeseen and new challenges, to put it mildly, and we are not willing to rush the release.” As a result, the game is now expected to launch on Switch sometime in 2021.
On a more positive note, Respawn confirms that Apex Legends on Switch will offer cross-platform play, the latest seasonal content, and full feature parity with other versions of the game. It’s worth noting that cross-play support was introduced for the current platforms earlier this month.
While Apex Legends’ Season 7 is still a few weeks away, players can make the most of their waiting time by indulging in some spooky fun. Thanks to the game’s returning Fight or Fright limited-time Halloween event, which started yesterday and will continue until November 3rd, gamers can enjoy a thrilling and eerie experience.
