Knee Deep: A Telltale-Inspired KY Route Zero-like
Southern gothic mystery drama Knee Deep appears to be drawing inspiration from Telltale’s recent episodic releases in the vein of Kentucky Route Zero.
Set in the swamps of Florida, Knee Deep chronicles the adventures of three characters – a journalist, a blogger, and a detective – as they delve into the purported suicide of a once-famous Hollywood actor at a shabby roadside attraction.
Developed by Prologue Games based in North Carolina, Knee Deep is being promoted as “a swamp noir in three acts,” and truly, its aesthetic is crafted to resemble a stage play, with transitions achieved through rotating sets and curtains being drawn.
Similar to many LucasArts adventures, there is no failure state in Knee Deep; however, you can lose “friends, respect, and the moral high ground.”
Knee Deep is slated to be released this summer on PC, Mac, and Linux. Pre-orders are priced at $19.99, and the price will rise to $24.99 upon launch.
Can’t wait that long? Well, if you’re at EGX Rezzed, you can give it a try tomorrow, where Knee Deep is making its public debut. Or, you can simply watch the following 18-minute video that showcases an early build of the game.
