Starfield: Fun Glitches & Updates Galore
Starfield officially emerged from early access on Wednesday, and thus far, it appears to be the game with the least number of bugs that Bethesda has ever released.
That said, a few minor glitches have still managed to sneak through, and although there have been a few reports of crashes, most of these slip-ups are actually rather amusing.
So, as it’s Friday, here’s a small compilation of the amusing ways in which Starfield has star-failed, to bring a smile to your face before the weekend.
Please note, while none of these bugs delve into specific story details, some characters and locations could be considered spoilers. Hence, if you wish to enjoy Starfield at your own pace and with a completely fresh perspective, this is your signal to look elsewhere.
First off, we have a series of NPCs lacking heads and upper bodies, resulting in rather startling conversations.
While I’m certain there are numerous strange and wonderful creatures out there in the stars, having a conversation with your fellow crewmates where all that responds is a pair of eyes and a hairpiece wasn’t something I had anticipated on my intergalactic travel bingo card.

Speaking of NPCs that aren’t entirely intact, here’s Starfield’s mysterious ‘The Hunter’ casually informing the player that he will “see [them] around”, before gracefully sliding into the wall behind.
While this disappearing act is clearly not intentional, among all the characters this bug could have affected, The Hunter seems rather fitting.
A classic Bethesda bug with perfect comedic timing. “I’ll see you around”

Meanwhile, other Starfield NPCs simply seem to have no concept of personal space.
Here are a couple of literal space invaders barging into conversations without any regard for privacy.
I was casually chatting with an NPC when this occurred, and I spent about 5 minutes in uncontrollable laughter

One Starfield NPC that many will already be familiar with and, erm, perhaps have a love-hate relationship with (?) is the Adoring Fan.
This throwback from The Elder Scrolls can be a rather charming member of your team, but that doesn’t mean he’s without his quirks.
Many have discovered him scurrying around the screen in a rather manic manner, or simply sinking straight into the floor.

Didn’t know being an adoring fan made you able to zip around at will until you make people feel sick.#Starfield pic.twitter.com/7WLPJXWJVu

I love this game.. At least the bugs are funny, not game-breaking lol.. To venture where no one has gone before – beneath the deck plating.

While this rather erratic behavior might become tiresome, we shouldn’t be too harsh on the poor fellow. After all, he truly is an adoring Adoring Fan, and as this player discovered, he will even brave fire for you. How sweet.

Other sidekicks that players will acquire in Starfield include VASCO, a robot companion encountered early in the game. He’s a rather helpful asset on your journeys, but just like the Adoring Fan, at times he can cause more problems than you might anticipate.
Here he is, outright attacking an NPC while the player is in the middle of a conversation with them. VASCO woke up that morning and decided on violence!

Apparently, he can also levitate and perch on ships at times (though, I think that’s just showing off, really).

This Starfield player did a genuine double take with the next glitch. Who knew the dress code in space could be so minimal?
Well, that’s a new one. You can see the moment I do a double take. pic.twitter.com/fyvoryojhe

Last but not least, my personal favorite – the breakdancing pirates!
I almost feel that these dynamic individuals should be given a pass for their antics given how smoothly they spin across the ground. Personally, I’m just thrilled when I successfully manage to duck behind a wall for cover during a gunfight, so this is truly going the extra mile on their part.
I knew the pirates were tough but I didn’t think they’d show off to me this intensely.

Earlier today, Bethesda announced that six million of us have embarked on Starfield’s adventures already. Are you one of the many? And if so, have you encountered any glitches like these?
